Hannah and Ryan’s May 17th wedding at Black River Barn was a vibrant, design-forward celebration built over more than a year and a half of thoughtful planning and creative development. With over 200 guests in attendance, this spring-time celebration balanced large-scale impact with a sense of warmth and ease, all rooted in a setting deeply personal to the bride; her hometown right on the cusp of picturesque Lake Michigan.

Led by Rhiannon Bosse Celebrations, the wedding design process began by reimagining the venue’s traditional layout. The reception was reoriented and the permanent bar concealed with custom lavender velvet drapery, simplifying the industrial space and creating a whimsical focal point around the band stage, where guests danced all evening to live entertainment. Throughout the celebration, sculptural florals in cheerful shades of coral, pink, and peach - nearly half of them locally grown in West Michigan - were layered with watercolor-painted stationery by Liz Dixon, including Save the Dates shaped like “The Mitten” as a nod to the wedding location. Eyelet and patterned linens, refined tabletop details, wicker lamps, and abundant candlelight completed the design, creating a warm, layered atmosphere rich with personality and a strong sense of place.
