A visual story is always more compelling when contrasting elements are given the opportunity to shine on the same stage. Take, for example, a dramatic color palette dotted with muted pastels or a cluster of minimalist tablescapes set in an elaborate historic building. Or perhaps more specifically, for Alex and Mike’s November wedding celebration in Grand Rapids, disco balls, mirrored tables and opulent velvet paired with life-size trees in a city’s beloved country club ballroom.

We’ve had the pleasure of executing many weddings at Cascade Country Club and this one gave us ample space to flex our creative muscles a little. Transforming a ballroom and making it look different from the hundreds of occasions which came before is a feat. But here we took on the push and pull of the unexpected and created a sense of harmony that felt both stylish but undeniably approachable.
